Jayden Flemming FAMU and Ronnie Burns Died In Houston Accident, Obituary Tallahassee-Miami FL and Dallas TX

A tragic car crash in Houston’s Midtown early Saturday morning has claimed the lives of two Florida A&M University (FAMU) students, including 23-year-old Jayden Flemming, a bright and accomplished master’s student from Miami, Florida.

The fatal crash occurred around 2 a.m. near Smith Street and Elgin Street, according to the Houston Police Department. Authorities say it began when a black Ford F-150, observed crashing into two vehicles in a parking lot, fled from Harris County Precinct 7 deputies. The suspect sped down Smith Street, running red lights and colliding with several vehicles before slamming into a white Lexus at the intersection of Elgin Street.

The impact spun the Lexus into a nearby building where it caught fire. Despite emergency response, both occupants of the vehicle—Jayden Flemming and his close friend Ronnie Burns—were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford F-150, who exhibited signs of intoxication, was taken into custody and is now facing multiple charges, including murder.

Jayden Flemming was an ambitious and highly respected member of the FAMU community. A Miami native, he was pursuing a Master’s in Global Business Development and studying abroad in Germany at Kempten University. He previously earned his Bachelor’s in Accounting at FAMU, where he excelled academically and was deeply involved in student life.

Ronnie Burns II from Dallas TX, was Fourth-Year CS Student at Florida A&M University, Incoming Software Engineer at Mastercard,  TMCF Yard Ambassador, and Resident Assistant at Florida A&M.

Jayden who lived in Tallahassee and was originally from Miami FL, held multiple internships, including with PwC, Carnival Cruise Line, and Myers and Stauffer LC. He was also treasurer (Exchequer) for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.

Tributes have poured in from friends and mentors.

“I can’t believe I’m writing this,” said Anthony Baugh in a heartfelt Facebook post. “If you saw Jayden, you saw Ronnie. Legendary duo. Please keep both families in your prayers.”

The loss of Jayden and Ronnie has left a deep void in the FAMU community. Many are remembering Jayden not just for his professional excellence, but for his charisma, leadership, and friendship.

“He was one of those students who made you proud to be a Rattler,” said a former professor. “Driven, kind, and full of promise.”

As the investigation continues, the families of both victims are asking for prayers and privacy during this devastating time.
